At a time when ual conservatism seems to be again on the rise, Swales is championing the individual woman’s right to explore, own her body and define the nature of her desires. Her songs venture into human relationships--such themes as polyamory, jealousy, compassion, grief, and confidence...the unspoken role that power plays in ism. This is followed at 4:30 pm by a SPECIAL EVENT 90 Minute Concert By PENELOPE SWALES: A Retrospective Of Twenty Years Of Exploring Life And Love Cost $15 LTD/ Synergy event. Live the Dream is an education and support group for those who, originally inspired by the writings of Robert Heinlein, Robert Rimmer and Marion Zimmer Bradley, are now ready to LIVE such alternative lifestyles as cooperative living, open relationships and group marriage. Many of our concepts on multiply committed relationships come from Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land and Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Live the Dream also sponsors a Nest of Church of All Worlds, the real life, over fifty year old spiritual movement inspired by Stranger in a Strange Land. Penelope Swales – Press Release Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Penelope Swales will tour internationally in 2008 to promote her 9th solo CD “Skin: Deep - Polymorphous Love Songs”"I used to traipse around the place, having love affairs and singing about politics" quips Penelope."Now I study politics and only want to sing about love.”Fans of Swales's political material should not despair. In truth, there is plenty that is political about “Skin: Deep”. "So Lucky" is the obvious track here, as it invites the listener to consider the ways in which we in industrialized democracies take our good fortune for granted, both forgetting the role previous radicals played in creating our freedoms and overlooking the fact that, as willing consumers, we play a central role in an economic system that creates massive inequity on a global scale. But there is also running through the album a deep chord of rebellion. Swales, now in her late thirties, has clearly lived much of what she is writing about, and brings an astute sensibility to the subject matter that younger, less worldly or less truthful songwriters fall short of. There are no ideals here, just bulletins from a life lived with passion and veracity. In recent years Swales has been taking a hiatus from touring while she studies full-time and helps care for an elderly parent. She describes this celebration of sensuality and courage as a retrospective of twenty years of exploring life and love, made at a time when commitment and responsibility weigh heavily. Improvements in her mother's health will see her touring again in 2008. Bring your lap top if you have one! Finding Poly MatesI am Terry Brussel Gibbons.   I have been involved in multiply committed relationships all my life.  Live the Dream is an organization for those who, originally inspired by the writings of such authors as Heinlein, Rimmer and Marion Zimmer Bradley, now believe you can deeply love more than one significant other and make a family-by-choice with them. I am part of such a family--a nest of over 20 water brethren some of whom live with me and some of whom live as far away as Germany.  Some of us see each other daily, others for warm and loving visits only a week or so a year.  I am also a fourth generation matchmaker and a certified clinical hypnotherapist.  My family runs Marriage Minded Introductions, Southern California's oldest introduction service--founded 1910.  By making matches (both poly and monogamous) over a period of more than thirty-five years, I have learned a great deal about what works and what doesn't in choosing a partner or partners.  As an single poly lady age fifty-five seeking a primary partner, I am learning even more. At just about every meeting I attend for those interested in multiply committed relationships, I find couples looking for a third, triads looking for a fourth, and singles looking for a primary partner who can accept a non-monogamous lifestyle but may also be open to the right couple, triad, or group.  If these seekers aren't fortunate enough to find just the right person(s) at such a gathering, they may try a personal ad.Thanks to such publications as Loving More and the Green Egg (now an on-line publication), there is a better chance this will work than when swing magazines were the only ones running such ads. Such ads in our community, however, have the same disadvantages as personals in the singles scene.  It is hard to express exactly who you are and what you want in a few lines of ad copy.  Loving More allows more than a few lines at a non outrageous price, which helps. There are also dating internet sites, many of which are free or very reasonably priced.  Ok Cupid has a lot of poly people on it including couples and sometimes triads.  Their matching procedure is incredibly in-depth.  You just need to be careful not to get matched with someone who is looking for an extramarital affair rather than a open, everyone consenting, love relationship.  Ask!  The Polymatchmaker is a site specifically for poly people, but has a lot fewer members and does not offer the excellent matchmaking questionnaire that OK Cupid does.  It is definitely worth putting your profile there.  Jdate is good if you are Jewish, but finding truly poly people on that site is difficult, particularly since it is not the intent of this site to provide that as an option.  I prefer to talk to a potential love partner rather than text messaging them, but that is what this site mostly encourages.  I have found that giving out your phone number too soon (earlier than at least 3 exchanged E-mails) is looked at almost as indecent exposure.    While some people on these dating sites appear to be looking only for people to E-Mail on line, others are seriously looking to meet someone- even to meet their life mate. To increase the chances of finding a match, attractive photos are a must—many people won’t even look at a profile without a picture.  Be sure to reasonably revealing about who you are and what you are looking for in a match. If you are going on Ok Cupid, make the best use of it by answering as many questions as you can. You’ll be surprised how much you will learn about yourself by doing that. If you are putting your profile on a web based dating service,  running a personal ad, answering one or even just meeting at a gathering, there are some things you should be aware of to help you make the right choices and to bring  those you desire closer to you.The first concept you need to be aware of is partnering patterns. This is a   Do-It-Yourself kit for developing positive partnering patterns.  This is a tool which you can use to decide if a caller from a personal ad is worth meeting, whether an attractive someone you meet at a dance is worth dating, whether someone you've seen a few times is worth getting serious with, etc.  You'll start with something very basic and keep honing it to suit you.Begin by listing your three most important love relationships.  If you are a couple or group, both or all of you should do this.  If you have love relationships that you have tried as a couple or group in the past, by all means use them. List also your opposite parent if this person helped raise you.  Write down all characteristics at least three out of four of these people had in common-- height, hair length, religion, reading preferences, anything.  Don't worry about whether the characteristic is negative or positive yet. When finished, mark the things that were good for that relationship with a +, the things that were bad for it with a - and the neutral with a 0.  Use these notes for ideas as you now list those attributes you consider essential in a relationship (E), those you'd like to have (L), and those you absolutely don't want (N).  E's are 7-10 or multiples of 10 points, L's are 1-7, N's are negative 20-100.  Add up all your possible positives for a total possible score.  Rate each important past relationship on each characteristic for practice and to see if your scoring tool reflect what actually worked or didn't in these relationships.  For example, if being a cat lover is worth 10 points, the guy who tolerates them in the house may get a 3 while the lady who cleans out the cat box and cuddles with them in bed gets a 10.  Add up the entire positive and divide by the total possible score to get an initial percentage.  Then deduct the negatives from the total actual score.  Get a new percentage by dividing this number by your original total possible score. Does this mean one minus 100 could eliminate someone who is otherwise great?  YES.  No matter how great they are alcoholism, history of domestic violence, lack of ability to be self supporting or your own major pet peeve does properly eliminate them.  Save the negative list for things you really find UNacceptable. Now score a current possible if you have one or find one for that purpose.   That relationship probably isn't right for any of you if it comes out badly for one of you. This tool will change as you use it.  You'll add to the positives and the negatives as you discover things that work and do not for you or your group.  You'll even find you can use it to rate a particular person as the relationship progresses.  If certain situations lower a potential partners score, that may tell you to avoid those situations (such as visits to his X) or that this won't work since those situations can't be avoided. If a new possible is looking good, go for it!If you are looking for a primary partner in the Southern California area I can be reached at 1-800-LifeMates (543-3628) for matchmaking services, 800-GOAL NOW(462-5669) for hypnotherapy/self actualization–BY PHONE OR IN PERSON..  Or call 818-886-0069 for more info on Live the Dream.Ready for the Right One(s)?  Need an assist to get ready? Whether you need counseling, hypnotherapy, a communication hint, or a life partner, I’d like to help… CONSIDER GROUP LIVING Many times over the years we've done an exercise at Live the Dream meetings in which we have everyone write down what they could afford to pay down for a home and what they could pay monthly. Invariably, we discover that many people together can live cheaper and a whole lot nicer than that same number could live separately.  Imagine coming home to a beautiful house, a well kept yard filled with flowers and young trees, 2 fire places, and a hot tub (clothing optional of course). You come home to the smell of something delicious being cooked by one of your housemates.  You share a good dinner with whoever is at home tonight.  Afterwards, you can go to the privacy of your room, soak in the hot tub with good friends, join a lively discussion in the living room or cuddle by the fire.   Sound good? Make your fantasy a reality…Private ROOM with private bathroom AVAILABLE IN GROUP HOUSE in the West San Fernando Valley of California.
