IFM-SEI has been selected to occupy one of ten permanent NGO seats on the European Forum on the Rights of the Child. The European Forum is an initiative of the European Commission and will contribute to the drafting of the European Union Strategy on the Rights of the Child.Kinderfreunde Austria celebrates 100 years
More than 200 delegates took part in Kinderfreunde's 100th Anniversary Conference on 18 and 19th Oct. Joschi Ackerl was re-elected as chair and guests from Framfylkingen Norway, Nuoret Kotkat Finland, Czech Pionyr, German Falcons, Dui leg og Virke Denmark, Woodcraft Folk UK and IFM-SEI took part in the conference. Motions and resolutions focussing on strengthening traditional groups, developing work with young people from ethnic minority backgrounds, putting children's rights in the constitution and improving camp education were passed. Pakistani Falcons Stand up for Workers Rights
On 17th October 2008, hundreds children aged 5 to 16 demonstrated against the kiln industry and the government of Pakistan. Children stood together in protest that the kiln industry refuses to pay their parents according to the Minimum Wage set by the Punjabi government. The children of these workers are dying of hunger and there is no institution that will provide help to them, instead children are forced to sell themselves and their parents resort to selling their kidneys to pay for food and essential supplies. Hundreds of children planned the protest rally under the banner of our organisation, APFUTU. More photos
All Together Moving forwards
All Together, IFM-SEI's European inclusion strategy, is developing fast. The Steering Group has been gathering research throughout the summer and met to collate it in October with the aim of supporting IFM organisations to be more inclusive. In addition, a Training Course on setting up inclusion and inter-cultural dialogue projects is taking place in November for members interested in doing inclusion work but no idea where to start.
Creating Children's Republics 
Many of our member organisations held international camps this summer, giving children the opportunity to decide collectively what programme to participate in and how the camps should be run! The camps were great fun and gave children and young people the opportunity to live with others from all over the world.
IFM-SEI Asian Youth Network holds seminar in India
The Asian region met in India in September to discuss the important topics of HIV-AIDS, Child Labour and the development of the Asian region. Using peer education they developed strategies to address these crucial subjects.
