Subway signs agreement with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers
Subway, the third largest fast-food chain in the world and the biggest fast-food buyer of tomatoes grown in the U.S. State of Florida, reached an agreement today with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to help improve wages and working conditions for the workers who pick their tomatoes. "Today, the fast-food industry has spoken with one voice,” said Gerardo Reyes of the CIW. “With this agreement, the four largest restaurant companies in the world have now joined their voices to the growing call for a more modern, more humane agricultural industry."

International Conference in Doha on Financing for Development
A "Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus" took place from Nov 29 - Dec 2 in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The purpose of the conference, in which Mary Robinson participated, was to take stock of the implementation of the 2002 Monterrey Consensus on financing for development.
